Dublin Art Fair 2008 welcomes established art collectors, new buyers looking to own their first piece, or those who simply want to immerse themselves in the best of the world's 20th and 21st Century art. An exclusive invite-only preview evening will be held on Thursday 11th September, with Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th open to the general public.
Dublin Art Fair 2008 aims to provide an outstanding platform for 58 leading national and international galleries to showcase the very best that the art market has to offer. The 1,000 exhibition pieces, both by modern art masters and the newest generation of emerging art stars, will offer an exciting balance of the most progressive, innovative and provocative works the art world has to offer today. Participant international galleries will include works from leading artists such as Francis Bacon, Mark O'Neill, Andy Warhol, Hughie O'Donoghue, Gerard Byrne, David Begley, Eugene Kohn, Bridget Riley, Charles Harper, Michael O'Dea, Matt Lamb, Pauline Bewick, Joby Hickey, Diana Kaufman and Graham Knuttel.
Central to Dublin Art Fair 2008 is 'Project Platform', an ambitious exhibition space, which gives four non-commercial Dublin based studios a unique opportunity to present work to a captive audience, whilst connecting with industry professionals and experts. Monster Truck Studio & Galleries, one of the participating studios, will showcase artist in residence, Magnihild Opdol from Norway, who will create a multi-disciplinary installation consisting of a series of wall drawings, sculptural pieces and a floor installation. Other artists taking part in 'Project Platform' include Dublin-born artist, Oisin Byrne, whose work will feature an origami installation, which is best viewed by lying on the ground. The third and fourth final artists taking part in 'Project Platform' will be announced over the coming weeks.
Dublin Art Fair 08 is also pioneering the work undertaken by curators, with the specially designated "Curators Space" which will showcase emerging fresh talent that has been carefully and expertly selected by rising art curator Padraic E. Moore.
Commenting on the first Dublin Art Fair, organiser Maria McMenamin, says: 'We are delighted to bring so many talented and respected artists under one roof for the inaugural Dublin Art Fair.
