Taoiseach set for Davos

Taoiseach Enda Kenny will arrive in Davos, Switzerland today to attend the World  Economic Forum where he is scheduled to take in discussions on the structural,  economic and political issues facing political leaders across the globe.

According to his department, the  Taoiseach  will  also  undertake  a  series of bilateral meetings with business  and political leaders with a view to outlining Ireland’s progress towards  economic  recovery  and  highlighting the benefits of Ireland as a destination for international investment.

Tomorrow he will participate in an interactive plenary session entitled  ‘Rebuilding  Europe’.  His fellow panellists for that event are José  Manuel  Barroso, president of the European Commission; Finnish  Prime Minister, Jyrki Tapani Katainen;  President Bronislaw Komorowski of Poland; and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt. Lionel Barber, editor of the Financial Times, will act as moderator.

On Friday, the Taoiseach will be involved in the ‘Informal Gathering of World Leaders - Defining the Imperatives for 2012’ session. This discussion will centre on a number of themes, including job creation and  social  stability,  inclusive  governance  in  the digital age and the remodelling of Europe.
