PayPal expected to create 1,000 jobs in Ireland

Several reports are suggesting that US electronic payments company PayPal is going to announce 1,000 new jobs for Ireland today.

According to the Irish Independent the firm owned by eBay will open a number of new call centres here. Its European headquarters in Blanchardstown, Dublin already employs 1,500 people.

PayPal is expected to hire people with English and other languages to help customers with accounts, check documentation from retailers around the world who want to open accounts and to review transactions for suspicious activity.

The company already has call centres in the Philippines and Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States.

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD is expected to make the jobs announcement at 12.45pm.
